Kids Blog-Paul in Jerusalem
Last week, kids learned that Paul boldly preached the Gospel to everyone. Even though he was in chains, he continued to proclaim the truth, even to governors, king, high-ranking officers and the prominenet men.
When Paul was in Jerusalem, some Jews stirred up the crowd and seized Paul, saying that Paul teaches everyone everywhere against their people and their law. The whole city was aroused. While they were trying to kill Paul, the Roman commander came up and arrested Paul and ordered him to be bound with two chains. He asked who he was and what he had done. Paul spoke to the crowd and shared his testimony. However, the crowd shouted and threw their cloaks, that the commander directed that Paul be flogged and interrogated in order to find out why the people were shouting at him like this. The next day, the chief priests and all the members of the Sanhedrin assembled and Paul stood before them. When Paul said that he stand on trial because of the hope of the resurrection of the dead, a dispute broke out between the Pharissees and the Sadducees. The dispute became so violent that Paul was taken away from them by force. The following night, the Lord stood near Paul and said, "Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome." When the commander found out that some Jews were waiting in ambush to kill Paul, Paul was transferred and sent to the governor. Paul stood in trial before governors Felix and Festus. Later, he stood before King Agrippa and Bernice, all the high-ranking military officers and the prominent men of the city. Whoever Paul met and wherever he went, he boldly shared the good news and defended his faith. He was not afraid of anyone. And he was not ashamed of the gospel!
