Kids Blog-God's amazing miracles through Elisha
Last three weeks, kids studied the Book of 2 Kings and discovered that God did amazing miracles through Elisha.
Bible Story: 2 Kings 2-6
Bible verse: "Don't be afraid," the prophet answered. "Those who are with us are more than those who are with them." 2 Kings 6:16
When the LORD was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah asked Elisha, "Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?" Elisha replied, "Let me inherit a doubel portion of your spirit." Elijah said, "You have asked a difficult thing, yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours, otherwise, it will not." As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chairot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. Elisha saw him no more and God granted him the spirit of Elijah to rest on Elisha. From then on, God did amazing miracles through Elisha. When the water was bad, Elisha threw the salt into the spring and God healed the water and made it pure. When the king of Israel and king of Judah faced the Moab in the battle, God delivered Moab into their hands. When a widow pleaded for help, Elisha insturcted her to go around and ask all her neighbors for empty jars and pour oilinto all the jars. When she did what Elisha said, God overflowed oil into all the jars, so she could go sell the oil and pay her debts. God also restored the Shunammite's son to life through Elisha. When Naaman, a commander of the army of the king ofAram came to Elisha because he was suffering from leprosy, Elisha sent his servant and instructed him to go wash in the Jordan seven times. When Naaman obeyed, God healed him of leprosy. Naaman was cleansed and his flesh was restored. When the king of Aram marched against Elisha, God sent His heavenly army full of horses and charios of fire all around Elisha. Time and time again, God healed, provided, and demonstrated His power through Elisha and extended his mercy and compassion on people. The same God who was with Elisha in times of trouble is here with us today. He sends down His mighty army from heaven and surround us with his angels when we call out to Him. Psalm 91:9-11 say, "If yoy say, 'the LORD is my refuge and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no diaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways." Psalm 91:15-16 also write, "He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation."
