Kids Blog-Philip told the Good News
Last week, kids learned that when an angel of the Lord said to Philip to go to the desert road, Philip obeyed, met an Ethiopian eunuch on the road, and shared the Good News!
Bible Story: Philip and the Ethiopian
Bible Verse: Acts 8:26-40
When Philip met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake, queen of the Ethiopians, he was sitting in his chariot and reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. The Spirit told Philip to go to that chariot and stay near it. Philip obeyed the Spirit and ran up to the chariot. He heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, "Do you understand whatyou are reading?" The Ethiopian said, "How can I? unless someone explaisn it to me?" SO he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. He was reading the passage of Scripture from Isaiah 53:7-8.
"He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. In his humilation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth."
The eunuch asked Philip if the prophet is talking about himself or someone else in this passage. Philip told him that the prophet was writing about Jesus and told the Good News! As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch was baptized by Philip. When they came out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away and the eunuch did not see him again, but he went on his way rejoicing! God so loved and cared about the Ethiopian that he sent Philip to the desert road so he can share the Good News about Jesus. And Philip obeyed God right away and followed His instructions. God has placed people in our lives for purpose. Whether it is our family members, relatives, friends, neighbors, or people that we meet for the first time, God is calling us to boldly share the Good News about Him, so they may also believe in Jesus and receive forgiveness of their sins and gift of eternal life.
