Kids Blog-Sin spread to people
Last two weeks, kids learned that Adam and Eve's sin spread to all of their descendants.
Bible Text: Genesis 4-10
Bible Point: Sin spread to people. But God did not forget His promise to send a Rescuer. He sent His Son, Jesus to take the punishment for our sin.
Adam and Eve's disobedience and its consequence did not end in the Garden of Eden. Sin spread to their children and their descendants. Adam and Eve had sons, Cain and Abel. When Cain and Abel brought offerings, the LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering, He did not look with favor. Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD. And Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. Cain was very angry. He attacked his brother and killed him. Cain's sin and its consequence did not end in the field. Cain's descendant, Lamech married two women, defying God's intention for marriage between one man and one woman. Lamech also killed a man for wounding him. Sin continued to spread to people. Genesis 6:5 writes, "The LORD saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time." However, the Bible says Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. God decided to put an end to all people, and He said to Noah to build an ark so Noah and his family may enter the ark before God bring floodwater on the earth to destroy all life. God rescued Noah and his family from the flood. The story of Noah points ahead to a greater rescue. God sent His son, Jesus to take the punishment for our sin. By trusting in Him, we are saved from the punishment our sin deserves.
