Jesus' power helps us be good friends
This week, kids learned that Jesus' power helps us be good friends!
In Acts 2, we read about the way the believers lived in the early church. They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. They were filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. All the believers were one in heart and mind.
Just as God filled the early Christians with the Holy Spirit to worship, pray, care, share and give together, when we believe in Jesus, God fills us with the power of the Holy Spirit to love each other. The early Christians shared their possessions, sold their houses, land, brought the money from the sales and it was distributed to anyone who had need. This week, let's pray and ask God to reveal ways we can care, help, and love others. "Love each other in the same way I have loved you." John 15:12
