Kids Blog-The Sheep and the Goats
Last week, kids learned that Jesus calls us to serve others and care for those in need as He showed His love for us.
Bible Story: The Sheep and the Goats
Bible verse: The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.' Mattehw 25:40
Jesus said when He returns in His glory with all the angels, He will sit on his glorious throne. On that day, all the natons including us will be gathered before Him, who is our King and Judge, and He will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Those who are on His right will receive their inheritance, the kingdom prepared for them, for they gave him something to eat when he was hungry, something to drink when he was thirsty, inivted him in when he was a stranger, clothed him when he needed clothes, looked after him when he was sick, and visited him in prison. Then, those who are on his right, the righteous will answer Jesus and ask, "Lord, when did we do all those things?" Jesus said whatever they did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of his, they did for Him.
However, to those on His left, Jesus will say, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels for I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' He saidwhatever they did not do for one of the least of these, they did not do for Him.
Jesus teaches us that if we truly follow Jesus as our Shepherd, we should serve and care for those in need, as Jesus cared for our greatest need by dying on the cross so He can rescue us from our sin and eternal punishment. This Christmas season, let us look around and think about the people God has placed in our lives and neighborhood to show love and serve humbly. Let us also pray for those who are in need, those who are suffering, lonely, cold, homless, sick, and in prison.
