Bible Story: Jesus feeeds the five thousand, Matthew 14:13-21
Bible verse: "Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves..." Matthew 14:19
In Matthew 14, there is an amazing miracle story of Jesus feeding the five thousand. When Jesus saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. When it was getting late, the disciples suggested that they send the crowds away, so they cango to the villages and buy some food. But Jesus replied, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." The problem was they only had five loaves of bread and two fish, which was not enough to feed 5,000 people. Jesus told them to bring the people to him and directed them to sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves and the two fish and looked up to heaven, gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then, he gave them to the disciples and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up tweleve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over! That day, about five thousand men ate besides women and children. Jesus used very small amount of food, five loaves of bread and two fish and turned those into an amazing miracle feeding thousands of people. And he gave thanks and broke the loaves. What is in our hands? God gave us gifts, talents, abilities, and resources so we can use them to serve Him and others. When we give and share what we have for God's Kingdom, though our resources may seem small or not very significant, when they are placed in God's hand, God will do wondrous works!
