VBS Day 4 Truth: Jesus died and rose again.
Bible Point: Jesus is alive!
Bible Verse: Isaiah 53:5, 9-11; John 19-20
Isaiah 53:5 writes, "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:9 says, "He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth." Just as God told prophets, He sent Jesus to die for our sins, to be buried and be raised from the dead. John 19 shows that Jesus was crucified by the Roman soldiers and buried by Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus. The two of them wrapped Jesus' body, with the spices, in strips of linen and laid him in a new tomb. In John 20, early on the first day of the week, when Mary Magdalene went to the tomb, she saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance and the tomb was empty. Peter and John also ran to the tomb and saw the strips of line lying in the empty tomb. He was not there! Later, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene and also to the disciples. He was alive! When they saw him, they were overjoyed! Because Jesus died and rose again, we can receive His gift of forgiveness and eternal life. Let us respond to Jesus, repent, turn away from sin, believe that He died for our sins, and put our faith in Him as Savior and LORD.
