Paul continued to travel and preach the good news wherever he went. There were people who received the message with great eagerness. Some believed and were baptized. Paul placed his hands on some disciples he met and when he placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them. Paul faced some hardships however. Some Jews were jealous. Some sneered, caused riots, attacked him, and brought him to the place of judgment. Yet, Paul stayed faithful to God's calling and continued to testify to the goodnews of God's grace. When Paul had decided to go to Jerusalem, he sent for the elders of the church and said farewell to them. He said he served the Lord with great humility and with tears and in the midst of severe testing by the plots of his Jewish opponents. He delcared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in Jesus. He was compelled by the Spirit to go to Jerusalem, even though he did not know what will happen to him there. But Paul said in every city that Holy Spirit warns him that prison and hardships are facing him. However, Paul said he considers his life worth nothing to him, because his only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given him, the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace. When Paul finished speaking, he knelt down with all of them and prayed. They all wept as they embraced him and kissed him. As he headed to Jerusalem, Paul knew that only prison and hardships are waiting for him, yet he did not stop, he kept going. He had his eyes fixed on Jesus and determined to finish the race God has given him, so everyone would hear the good news of Jesus who forgives their sins and sets them free from sin and death.
